Eric Dolphy At The Five Spot Vol.1(New Jazz, 1961)
Eric Dolphy was not blessed with a regular group.
This album is his masterpiece with his only group, a double-headed combo with Booker Little.
Dolphy's undulating alto saxophone and Little's flowing trumpet create an exquisite combination.
Mal Waldron's piano is good, and his solo is also worth listening to.
It's not old-fashioned jazz at all.
